This document explains how the 15-hour and 30-hour government childcare funding works at Skallywags, including term-time funding and school holiday options. It is designed to help parents and families understand fees clearly and plan with confidence. What Is Government Childcare Funding? The government provides funded early education hours to help families with childcare costs. These funded hours are paid directly to the nursery and are used to reduce childcare fees. The funding contributes towards care and education hours only and does not usually cover all nursery costs. The Universal 15 Hours Funding (Term time only) All children aged 3 and 4 years are entitled to:

15 funded hours per week
Starting from the term after their 3rd birthday
Available regardless of parents’ income or working status

Some eligible 2-year-olds may also qualify under the Disadvantaged entitlement.

The 30 Hours Funding (Term time Only)

Skallywags offers the 30 hours funded childcare on a term-time-only basis.

Eligibility:

Both parents (or the sole parent) must be working
Each parent must earn at least the equivalent of 16 hours per week at minimum wage
Neither parent can earn more than £100,000 per year

Parents must apply through the government childcare service and provide a valid eligibility code, which must be reconfirmed every 3 months. How the 30 Hours Funding Works at Skallywags

The 30 hours funding applies for 38 weeks per year (school term time)
Funding does not apply during school holidays
Attendance during school holidays is charged at the full nursery rate

School Holidays – Opt In or Opt Out

Parents must choose whether their child will attend Scallywags during school holidays. Option 1 – Opt Out of School Holidays

Your child attends term time only
Funded hours apply during term time
No charges apply during school holidays

Option 2 – Opt In to School Holidays If you choose for your child to attend during school holidays:

You will be charged the full nursery rate for all hours attended during holidays
You are required to pay for the same days and hours that your funding covers during term time

Example of Holiday Charges If your child receives 30 hours funding, this is typically taken as:

3 days per week
10 hours per day

During school holidays, you will be charged for:

30 hours per week
3 days per week, 10 hours per day
At the full nursery rate, as no funding applies during school holidays

Monthly Payments To support families with budgeting:

Annual childcare costs are calculated across 52 weeks
The total cost is divided evenly over 12 months
You will receive the same invoice amount each month, unless you make changes

What the Funding Does Not Cover Government funding covers care and education hours only. It does not include:

Meals and snacks
Nappies and wipes
Additional activities or extras
